About us

We are a 501c3 that has helped reunite over 20K dogs with their families since 2012. We partner with HelpingLostPets and we trace dead end microchips.

Our Mission
* Reunite dogs with their families
* Show that most dogs are lost not "dumped'
* Educate the public on effective methods of finding lost dogs

We have a website at http://www.LostDogsOfTexas.NET
Lost Dogs of Texas is a non-profit recognized by the state of Texas and a 501 c 3.

More about us

Some of us worked for a long time after Katrina tracing address information from found animals and finding who the evacuee owners were and where they had moved. We are very good at solving dead end phone numbers when we are given complete information. http://www.microchiphelp.com

Please do not post dogs in shelters or rescues. We do not know how long those dogs will be available. Dogs in foster are OK - if they are posted as Found, and are not up for immediate adoption. We do not post animals who need adoption or rescue. We are strictly a lost and found site. We feel we can do a better job by limiting what we do. But do ask your local shelter and rescue to use HelpingLostPets.com to get animals in the National Database!

We welcome shelters and rescues to post links to their FaceBook sites on our page so we can add you to our page's "likes" section and so others can find your page. We hope that those who visit our page will also look at the dogs on your page and try to make a match and that you will look at our dogs.

circumstances or situation. Due to space constraints, we delete comments that are off topic or break our rules, dogs cross-posted by third parties, lost and found ads, or any postings that sell or promote services.
There are over two dozen Texas Craigslist cities. Our volunteers monitor each of those cities and contact everyone who has lost or found a dog and ask them to post here. If they elect not to post, we respect their privacy by not allowing the cross-posting of these ads.
With the size of Texas, we NEED volunteers FROM ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD to work on Craigslist, to make flyers, and to counsel families who have lost dogs. You may volunteer by completing this form http://www.VolunteerLDOT.com

Why do we do this?
We want to help make Texas families whole again. We believe we are helping people as well as animals. At a time when you may be emotionally at your lowest, when you are being tested by having to learn a whole set of skills to find your dog, we want to help you. By helping you, we help rescues and shelters free up space for dogs who do not have homes. We want rescues and shelters to see that the dogs in their shelters may already have homes and many are fiercely loved and their families just need the tools and support to effectively search for them.
