Artist Statement:
Every photograph has a spirit. Unlike school portraits, I like my pictures to take on a more natural look. While waiting for the right moment to capture the shot, the inner beauty of my subjects shines through. Many people may miss the opportunity for the perfect image, but I time my picture for when their essence appears. Though it may take a while for someone to get comfortable with getting their picture taken, I patiently wait for that exact moment when they show their character.
Beauty is all around us, in people as well as nature. Nature can be difficult to photograph. I find that the light plays a big part of it, and my favorite time of the day to shoot is in the evening around sunset. When taking photos of animals it can become stressful because they are constantly moving, which causes blurriness.
I enjoy taking photographs because I can preserve the beauty of the universe while letting people see the world through my eyes. It is fulfilling to see the joy my photographs bring to others. Photography can stop time and make it last forever.
