Try EBTCS (evidence based treatment center of seattle) they have a huge staff, so you can usually find someone to see pretty quickly. I've been going there for almost two years, and I can't recommend the people there enough. [ebtseattle.com](http://ebtseattle.com/)

I have a good economical recommendation who has done sliding scale rates in the past, who is an all-around wonderful person. PM me for info. She works out of Cap Hill/West Seattle, and could work you in very soon. She does private practice as well as non-profit work for children.

I see Janet Edlefsen, she is in Bryant but the building she works in is dedicated to mental health professionals. A good therapist has made all the difference for me and I definitely love Janet.

I can't recommend a specific therapist because I don't know your specific needs, but I can say that I got to see a therapist and fast by contacting someone who seemed to study things relevant to my needs on this website: http://depts.washington.edu/cshrb/newweb/faculty.html. It's UW psych faculty. The person I emailed had no openings in her clinical practice but was able to refer me to a similar colleague, and I got in really quickly (I think two weeks). I do, however, see someone in the University District. But it may be worth emailing someone on that list just for better advice on how to see a therapist than what we commoners on Reddit can offer.

They set you up with 3 trial appointments with three therapists and you get to see which one suits you. They have a ton of MHPs, and you can tell them you are looking for someone in _____ area. No problem.

Your out of the relationship so good job step one. If you call 211 you can ask for that kind of information. 211 is set up by the city to help assist people in anything they need including homeless people LBGT community and so on

Indiana Wesleyan University is a Intech Park - 71 st Street and 465 on the west side. They have a graduate student counseling program that runs on a sliding scale, with $20 at the high end. Yes it's a Christian school but I have NEVER had my counselor say anything about religion since I made it very clear that I'm an atheist. There are some limitations on the issues they will handle but it doesn't hurt to check. 317-713-6154

They have a pretty good network of other therapists in the Indy area that they refer to.

If you have a good relationship with a primary care physician, most of them will have some established referral relationships with local therapists that they recommend. Can be a simple way to find a good therapist. You might look for someone who specializes in trauma... that specialty usually encompasses domestic abuse. Also, make sure to check that they will be in-network on your insurance if you are hoping to use that to cover the costs. Congratulations on taking that first difficult step!

Psychology Today was recommended to me when I was searching for one. You can type in your zip code and then filter by issue, insurance, etc. Also check into your work to see if they offer an E.A.P (employee assistance program) where they can search for you and then they allow up to 3 visits free (virtual might have a different rule) so that you can try out the therapist or counselor without wasting money on it. Most insurance plans are required to cover virtual sessions right now. Psychology Today is a good place to look. Find someone who looks like a good fit, and see if they’re available. A lot of folks are pretty full right now, so you may need to contact a few people to find a spot.
