Pediatrician recommendations in the Arlington/Cambridge/Somerville/Medford areas? Who do you love and why? We are due in about 8 weeks and need to decide ASAP! Thanks!!
David L. replied:
Dr. Pangburn at Alewife Brook Community Pediatrics (at RT 16 & Mass Ave) on the Cambridge/Arlington line. We have friends who moved to North Woburn and are still seeing him because he's so awesome.
Kelly A. replied:
We see Dr Shoyer at harvard vanguard in Davis square. She is seriously awesome - patient, kind, actually listens. She is amazing.
Laura H. replied:
We also go to Harvard vanguard in Davis but see Dr Marcia Dworkind. She's been similarly awesome for the same reasons Kelly listed. I like the whole HVMA network (great OBs!) and switched my own PCP there, too. Good experiences with everyone overall.
Mike A. replied:
Dr Landis at Arlington Pediatric Associates she's amazing and takes a holistic/natural approach before going down the "throw some drugs at the problem" route
Lani S. replied:
We go to Belmont-Cambridge Healthcare on Concord Ave in the same building as Sancta Maria. We've seen Dr. Erin Mahoney (love her!) and Dr. Gopal Gupta the most between my son and daughter, but there have been a couple of times when we've also seen Dr. McKeen and Dr. James, and we've been happy with all of them. It's also nice and clean, and the nurses and front office staff is great.
Melinda N. replied:
We really like Dr. Landis, but if she is not available, I also like Dr. Zeman (is that right?) from our limited experience with her at the same practice.
Jennifer A. replied:
Dr. Karen Newbold at Harvard Vanguard in Davis, and she is amazing. Almost everyone we've interacted with in that pediatrics group is great.
Lisa M. replied:
We see Dr. Greenspan at MGH West. MGH West has plenty of parking and is right across the street from Costco, and I have only ever heard amazing things about the entire pediatric group - including from all the L&D nurses and you know they know! Greenspan was recommended to us by my husband's colleague who trained under lots of local pedi's and said Greenspan is the best. He's co-chair of pediatrics at MGH, and you may or may not know that MGH is Harvard's primary teaching hospital. He's definitely brilliant. I think some of his colleagues probably have warmer bedside manners but he REALLY knows his stuff and was more helpful to me than the lactation consultants in terms of nursing, AND saved us early intervention speech therapy that it turned out he was right on and my son did not need.
Zack G. replied:
Another vote for Dr. Pangburn. One of the best things about him is he makes you feel like a great parent. He really takes time to talk with you about ANY questions you have, and gives you the confidence you need as a new parent.
Sriya K. replied:
We love Dr. Joyce (Arlington). She has her own practice, where the 830-9 am walk-in time alone is worth getting on her list!
Sarah M. replied:
We love Arlington Pediatric Associates and all of the doctors there. Drs Sheldon, Landis, Zeman (sp?) and Schoeffield (sp?) are great. Also, Dr. Joyce was one of the Drs there at one time and we loved our interactions with her.
