Check out Vandergriff off of I-20. My wife and I just bought a Chevy from them and they were willing to negotiate down to our budget and didn't pressure us into looking at more expensive cars we weren't interested in. We did have to wait a long time to sign papers and for financing to go through, so you might want to bring a good book with you.

Have you tried calling your bank and getting pre approved financing? If you know what you want to spend you can do some "finance shopping" for the lowest rate before you even head to the dealership.

I've heard good things about Cransh. You might pay a little more for the car, but they've serviced it completely.

i can't say anything about a dealership, but try banking then financing with a credit union. They're somewhat more open. Plus try buying off craigslist via owner vs dealership to even save more money. Take a person who knows cars and ask the guy to have it taken to a reputable shop to be inspected and be picky.
