Friends around the county , do you know any surgeon or Endocrinologist who will recommend or do removal of a thyroid nodule without totally removing the thyroid? I can...

Try Dr. Judson Black, endocrinologist on Johnson Ferry Road in Atlanta, 30342.

Only about 5% of nodules are cancerous and need removing. I had thyroid removed over 10 years ago at the Mayo Clinic.

Julianne Thompson interesting point about the thyroid and Alzheimer's patients that you have known. My concern is the research that shows that Aluminum build up in the brain is related to the disease and since the thyroid detoxes our blood of heavy metals like Aluminum that is my concern.

Dr. Z does the ultimate Abe Lincoln impersonations (but they probably don't dig ol' Abe down in Georgia).
Michelle W. replied:
Sarah Cleveland, one surgeon was pushing me to remove BOTH sides because I am healthy now and could get through surgery with no issues. His attitude was do it now while you can, I guess and remove both sides while you can because research shows eventually you develop nodules on the other side!

My daughter has Type 1 diabetes and an endocrinologist but I do not know if this doctor is as you describe. Check out Dr. Zumhagen, who is an elder in my church and delivered my daughter. He may have referrals.
Leslie H. replied:
Lulu Hanks might have some good advice.
Jason S. replied:
My daughter doesn't like her endocrinologist, but we all love Dr. Z whose faith is involved in every iota of his practice.

Going gluten free does help. I too had my thyroid tested and it came back normal. I spent the next couple years feeling horrible and finally saw Dr. Miller and now I finally feel better.
