Looking for a nice public golf course in Boston! I'm about an 8 handicap and recently moved to Malden in the past year. Is there any public places within like 25 miles...

Shaker Hills is a beautiful course and in your price range. Has a range as well. Butternut Farm is good value. Not as nice as Shaker but it's a very walkable course and only $50.

I am a big fan of Sandy Burr for the convenience/price factor. A quick 10 min off the pike.

if you ever take a day off to golf, granite is affordable Mon-Wed. Presidents is a decent play as well (N. Quincy)

Braintree Municipal Golf course is the best deal around imo. You'll use every club and the highest greens fee is $52 on the weekend. As an 8 you might be interested in tourney golf, check out The Tour of Greater Boston. They play some pretty nice courses.

Trull Brook - Tewksbury Hickory Hill - Dracut Sagamore - Lynnfield Salem Greens (muni) - Salem Hillview - North Reading Black Swan - Georgetown (very nice but a little tight) And I 2 nd Braintree Muni... beautiful course. Just remember there is ALWAYS traffic on the South Shore.

If you live in Malden, Mt. Hood is like 15 minutes max from you. Public/state owned, but 18 holes and pretty good shape. Get there early because the 3 rd hole is a par 3 and backs up for hours. Presidents is a similar price, also state owned. If you want to travel a little, Stow Acres is about 45 minutes, has two 18 holes and is very nice, similar price rangel

Use Discount Tee-Time Sites. Sites like Golfnow.com, EZLinks.com, and Golf18Network.com Franklin Park and George Wright are pretty cheap.
Does anyone know of any golf courses or driving ranges in Boston that are accessible by the T?
farski replied:
BC and Riverside/Woodland have courses right nearby. I don't know about driving ranges. If you're willing to take a bus, Franklin Park, Brookline and some others are easy to get to.

President's Golf Course is a pretty close walk from the North Quincy stop on the Red Line
