The hp set doesn't seem to be close to 250 on best buy and hp.com. I think you're asking for trouble, like you've found, trying to buy under market price from 3 rd party sellers

Why not give it a try? If they send you a non-bundled set, you send it back and tell them that what they sent is not what was advertised. There's more 5-star than 1-star ratings, which means most people are getting a complete set. It's not like they're gonna make you pay to ship back something that they fucked up on. And if they try to, you just argue longer.

I got the Lenovo one on Amazon and it was fine. I think it was probably just a mispackaged box, especially if it was fulfilled by Amazon.

I'd honestly suggest looking on Craigslist possibly. There was a bundle deal over the holidays, and a lot of people are selling them now. I picked my Lenovo Explorer up for $140, NIB.

That HP set can be a problematic purchase because it's the only WMR headset that puts the controller and headset into two *different but identical* looking boxes. I've read numerous reports of people buying it from Best Buy, as part of a PC VR bundle, and if they chose the HP headset, sometimes Best Buy only shipped them only one box, not two, so they were missing either the headset or controller. When I bought my HP headset from my local Microsoft store, the employee had to do a double take when getting the boxes for me. He got confused by the two similar looking boxes. As far as I know, the other WMR headsets besides HP use a single box to package the controller and headset. We also bought the Samsung Odyssey and Dell Visor. Our Oculus Rift only came in single box, too. So if you decide to try again to buy from a 3rd party seller, try another brand.
