VHS to DVD? I have a few home videos on VHS I'd like to convert to DVD. Can anyone recommend a local service for this that is reliable? One of the videos is our wedding...

If you have enough tapes it may be cheaper to do it yourself. A few years ago I bought a program with the adapters for like $100. Not a tech guy but was easy to figure out. I did a tape a night for a while to get the video files. Then I cut/spliced video for the DVDs. I believe the DVD video is compressed so glad I have the original video file as well, backed up on HDs.

Check out Everpresent - they are nationally available and super awesome!

Personally I wouldn't waste your time, as a vhs will last twice as long as a dvd when you watch it regularly, as well as just stand alone shelf life. It would be worth uploading it to a hard drive in order to keep the media duplicated in case of damage, and that is a much easier and shorter process. Just my opinion. Save yourself a headache.

I would call local libraries, some of them may have the service.

It's not quite local, but my uncle owns a [lab](http://thecamerashop.com) in St. Cloud, Minnesota which does [this](http://thecamerashop.com/imagecenter/videotransfer.html) and about anything else photographic or video related. The price is pretty darn reasonable and they can put it on a thumb drive too.

I'm a student at UNL. If you'd be interested in having me do it when I move back in August, PM me. I have been experimenting with my own transfers for five years now and can provide your copy in almost any format you want -- DVD, file, etc. I won't charge much.

This is who I used to send people to when I still worked in the Home Theater department at Best Buy. Pretty reasonable as I recall. https://shrameksvideo.com
