Christy Thacker and Barbara Nohrr: I had an appointment with Dr. Tangir and researched his background and found two malpractice cases that he settled. I switched to his partner, Dr. Salom and he was extremely professional and spent over 30 minutes with me after waiting two hours for my appointment. I was disappointed when I was told he was calling me to go over my test results and I'm still waiting for his call. Also, I have had Breast Cancer twice and had a Prophylactic Hysterectomy five years ago and I was told to have my blood tested every six months. Good luck!

Dr. Thomas Morrissey at Cleveland clinic. Just had my ovaries removed by him a month ago. Great experience and he did a super job! Highly recommend he is a gyn onc surgeon and very versed in BRCA. I also see Dr. stone in the oncology department.

Dr. Jacob Tangir in Broward is wonderful, highly-respected, patient and kind. He did my BSO in November 2011. Don't be turned off by reading that there was a malpractice case. Many well-respected, excellent doctors have been unjustly sued. He is the top gyn onc in the Memorial Healthcare System. He is very knowledgeable about BRCA. Gilda's Club had him as a guest speaker about BRCA earlier this year.

Julie Hoffman Klein, Dr. Tangir had TWO Malpractice Suits against him. The first one he left an instrument in the patient and the second suit he left the bag holding the pathology sample in the patient. His partner Dr. Salom has never been charged with a suit. Also, Tracy Smith I had a hysterectomy at the Cleveland Clinic and they took excellent care of me. The Oncologist I had at Cleveland Clinic left and I switched over to Memorial Healthcare where I have been very satisfied.

Susan Brush Lichtenstein, I read that you wrote two in your first post. Dr. Tangir was very highly recommended to me by my Genetic Counselor who is the Cancer Risk Assessment Counselor, High Risk Cancer Genetics Program for all The Memorial Cancer Institutes. Gilda's Club also highly recommended him to me. I can just vouch for my personal experience with him and it was first rate.

I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer 12 years ago and diagnosed with Breast Cancer a second time after having a double Mastectomy. I learned the hard way that you have to research, research, research and be your own advocate. Check out the Doctor thoroughly. I go to the same office as you, but I see Dr. Salom instead. I wrote because you implied Dr. Tangir was unjustly sued and that does not appear to be the case.
