Anyone have a good local (Crystal/GV/New Hope/Robbinsdale) vet recommendation?

Dr. Kokes at All About Pets (Golden Valley) in the shopping center by Byerly's. I have been taking my kids there for ever - she is very very nice. 763-546-4452

I like VCA All About Pets on Duluth St and Hwy 100. New Hope Animal Hopsital is good too (little more expensive though I think).
I don’t know about the hyperthyroidism piece, but we have had only fantastic experiences with Dr Engle at Bass Lake Pet Hospital. Close to home, reasonable prices, and I can tell you he is very thorough and will go over results and any other info in detail. Archer was really sick a couple years ago and was developing fatty tumors everywhere, and Dr Engle probably spent an hour on the phone with me over the course of a week or so while we were testing and coming up with a treatment plan. We figured out the issue, worked on a plan together, and he is a happy healthy pup again! I cannot say enough great things about him!!

Also not sure about the about the hyperthyroidism piece, but I have gone to Broadway Robbinsdale Animal Hospital. Fair prices and very compassionate. My last two pups went there and whenever my next one joins my family, he/she will go there too. Good luck!

We recently switched to Rockford Road Animal Hospital and absolutely LOVE them! Dr. Brewer and Dr. Duff are wonderful and so thorough. We recently had to put a dog down due to cancer and had another dog diagnosed with IBD in the same week and Dr. Brewer was amazing. He spent over 20 minutes on the phone with me walking me through IBD, our pups test results, treatment options, etc.

Not sure about the hypothyroidism but I love Camden Pet Hospital. Many good vets and Cynthia Fetzer is amazing. Same with Dr. Johnson.

My previous malamute had hypothyroidism and we went to MN Vet hospital in Shoreview. It's not very close but they have a lot of experience with hypothyroid dogs. I agree with you about staying away from VCA. I used to go there but they misdiagnosed my dog. His thyroid levels were at the low end of the normal range so they said he didn't have it. But a level that is normal in most dog breeds is hypothyroid is alaskan malamutes. Dr Susie at MN Vet knew that and got him fixed up right away.
