this was just posted by Bird Supplies, com Status Update By Melissa K Messick **** BEWARE******** Sherri KillenRaven's Haven Exotic Bird Rescue ALERT! A gentleman that lost 3 of his parrots last month came into the shop today ... it was devastating to see him and his wife and her tears never stopped flowing! He did verifiy that two Board Certified Vets did attest to the fact that white vinegar brought to a high temperature does emit TOXIC fumes for birds. I also checked the MSDS sheets for white vinegar and sure enough it states that when heated white vinegar emits toxic fumes similar to carbon dioxide. They had placed white distilled vinegar in the dishwasher and run it to clean it. Within 3 hours 3 of his birds succombed to the fumes. Just a warning not to use the white vinegar to clean your coffee machines or dishwasher This info was posted in the parrot garden by Jeani Palisin

Do you know if castile soap causes any harm to parrots? I like using Dr. Bronners in my home and don't know if it would cause any harm to my parrot. Thank you for sharing information on vinegar.

Ann Castro did an interesting write up about it .. however, I again say that everyone must use common sense when using anything around their birds that has "odor". I hope it goes without saying that Teflon ANYTHING is a huge No-No. https://www.facebook.com/TheBirdSchool
