New start counseling for therapy. I go to Dorothy Cerezola and love her. Not sure about psychologist tho. Haven't heard great things about Bolton in Orchard Hill. Call Bonnie Brown. She would know who to go to. (770) 584-1543

Mark Howard's idea about a dog that REALLY bonds with HIM is awesome.
A psychiatrist is an M.D. who can prescribe medications and generally does not do therapy, but will refer you to a non-physician associate. A licensed psychologist in GA will have a PhD, but can't prescribe. It depends on what you need. A licensed professional counselor (LPC) will be easier to find and less expensive. In Griffin, I'd recommend Hugh Christie, PhD for psychology (behinds Hobbs Pharnacy). Jennifer Mitchell, LPC (in the old Coca Cola building) There isn't a psychiatrist in Griffin I'd recommend.
