Where to live between LA (LAC+USC/Keck) and Orange? My boyfriend and I just found out that we will be moving to southern California from NY for our medical residencies!...

Whittier or Downey. Both have their nice areas. Both commutes will suck though

The cities along the 5 freeway between Orange and LA aren't the best however you have other options. Long Beach/Seal Beach/Los Al/Cerritos areas are nice and the commute would be similar. You might even be able to make the Diamond Bar/San Dimas area work. Your commutes are going to suck either way so you might as well live somewhere enjoyable.

It’s not good anywhere between the two places. It’s terribly overrun with illegal immigrants and rife with crime. You would be sorry to move anywhere between. Safer in Pasadena, Glendale area. Also the metro rail runs up there. The commute would be about the same for you both.
