Weddington Golf and Tennis in Studio City is a good place to start. Driving range, cheap lessons, and a pretty nice par 3. Roosevelt is a decent 9 hole track in Los Feliz by the greek theater. LA city golf largely sucks....rounds take forever, people dont know the basic etiquette. LA needs to invest its best two courses...Rancho Park and Wilson, get them in good shape, cleaned up and redesigned a bit. Charge non-residents $125 or more and residents in the $50 s and enforce 4 hour and 15 minute round time limits. CCs - in order... Riv LACC North Bel Air Lakeside Wilshire El Cab Woodland Hills Mountain Gate I do not know the Pasadena tracks very well.

If you're learning, start with a pitch'n'putt 9 hole like Weddington. Start on a driving range first though, and if you can start with lessons, the better. Pico Rivera is where I learned, has a couple long holes to let you learn some longer shots too.
After you get going and decent, next step is a place like Scholl Canyon. It's got some tough holes, but its "executive" length - no par 5s, and shorter par 4s. You'll learn more of the game there.
After that, you can graduate to full courses. Courses run by LA City Parks Dept are usually cheaper than other, privately owned courses.
Golf takes time. A lot of time. Once I accepted that I suck and can't play often enough to get better - I started having a lot of fun. It's a difficult game!
The nicer the course, the better you're expected to be. It will be a while before you can play those tracks and not get complaints.

Night time golf is awesome. Monterey park, verdugo hills ,pico rivera ,hartwel in long beach , ford park in bell gardens , all those are great 9 holes to learn and play. Also, the best public and cheap course ,in my opinion, is the palos verdes la county course.

Scholl Canyon Golf Course is a fun, short 18 hole course over in Glendale. DeBell Golf Course in Burbank also is pretty nice and has a par 3 pitch and putt course as well.

Two bang for the buck courses are Texas Star (Euless) and Coyote Ridge. Cowboys Golf Club is nice to but expensive.

I got tons of recommends, but Dallas is big so please give us a zip code where you are staying and we can narrow it down for you since you have an Uber qualification in your inquiry.

A couple more for you to check out: Bridlewood, Firewheel - Bridges, Frisco Lakes, Old American

If you want to go 10-30 min north of Addison, Pecan Hollow, Twin Creeks, and Westridge are fun courses that will only run you $50-$60.

Awesome guys I really appreciate it! I'm going to sit down and hash out some tee times after work. Are most of these findable on Golfnow? What's the weather going to be like this weekend? I see low 60 s with some decent wind, being from Chicago it'll feel like spring! I plan on pants and a pullover with a beanie and a heavy dose of "beer jacket". 27 male about a 12 hndcp if anyone wants to get out for a round! Pm me!
