Michaela O'Donnell , if you're an example of the type of people who work for New England Vetrinary Clinic, then I'm going to continue to take my pets to see Dr Haines at Hartford Vet (860-666-1447. Yes - I have the number memorized!! Lol). Elena Lombardo Corrado said it very well. Dr. Haines has been our family's vet for decades. He's caring, knowledgeable, and honorable. I got a ferret years ago (well, one became 3.....). At my initial appointment for her, Dr. Haines told me that he felt comfortable with routine exam & giving shots - but he stated very simply that their health can change very quickly, and he wouldn't be comfortable treating anything beyond that. He then left the room and came back with the # of a vet in East Hartford (used by the ONLY ferret rescue org. in CT). Yep. He "lost" the revenue that my ferret would bring in - because someday, she might need an "expert", instead of the general care he could provide. And he wanted her to already be a patient of that vet, just in case. So that's what I did, for all 3 ferrets that we had. (And he was right - we had a few major health crisises come up with them - and they all presented suddenly). Meanwhile, we continued to see Dr. Haines for our cat and dog. And EVERY TIME we brought one for an appointment, Dr. Haines would ask about our ferrets. That's a specific example of the care that one vet on this page has given. I don't know about any of the others - I've never had reason or desire to find a different vet. (P.S. - ALL my pets - and the pets of my family members - actually LIKE to go see Dr. Haines!! They just KNOW he's a wonderful guy!!)

Connecticut Vet in Kensington, Dr Compton she is amazing!! They are also connected to the 24 hr emergency vet in West Hartford that way all ur info is already on file.
Kristina H. replied:
Debbie - one of my best friends drives from Farmington to see Dr. Hopkinson at Connecticut Vet. I've heard stories over the years of the excellent care he's given. And being connected to WH Emergency Vet is certainly a bonus. She's been trying to get me to switch to him for years (that practice is less than a mile away from my house in Kensington). I've told her only if Dr. Haines retired.
Debbie C. replied:
At the Kensington office, besides Dr Compton there is another vet that I will admit I do not like and had a bad experience with. But other than that one guy everyone else has been so great, they r so friendly and always very very accommodating to one o f my dogs who is blind. I only came across them because I needed to bring him to the 24 er in WH and from there when I found out they had an office 5 min down the road I stopped going to Twin City in Newington, besides twin city was always very over priced and no connection between the vets and pets. They didn't really care.

Only complaint about Newington vet on day street is if you disagree with them they send u a letter saying find another vet. Used them for years and disagreed with them on a visit. Wasn't huge but had a follow up appt cancels. Not good business. I know several people who experienced this. We live Rocky Hill they have been so good to us. Our Holden's have always gone there. 24 hour care

David, I've been going to Dr.Autorino at Double A Vet in Wethersfield, minutes from Newington, since 1998 and have two Westies that Andrea sees now, one is 16 and my first Westie was almost 15 when she passed away and diabetic. I also have a 2 year old Westie. I've been a few other places and none compare to Double A. Every relative of mine goes there and nearly all my friends. Dr Autorino and her expert staff, some still there since I started, saved my girl's life more than once. I have also used the emergency services at Rocky Hill Vet Hospital..excellent. Best of luck...Never hurts to try a vet and see if you like him or her, I did just that and ended up at Double A.. Here are my two Westies, one is 16 and one is 2..
