My mom got her surgery and was amazed at her outcome. It's now an outpatient procedure with like an inch incision. She used dr. Lodhia. http://www.midwestneuroscience.com/our-staff/doctors.html

Here is package insert for the cortisone shot (kenalog) http://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/archives/fdaDrugInfo.cfm?archiveid=2066.
Kristie G. replied:
Cortisone shots are fine but you don't want to have too many, they can cause problems in your body later. They should really be used as a short term solution. As a person who has had back surgery and herniated discs, I REALLY recommend trying chiropractic medicine before surgery. Even acupuncture. Please make surgery your last resort. I was unhappy with my experience at Midwest Neurosurgery (they are not who did my surgery, it was for consult later) but my experience was with Dr. Bowdino. He is highly recommended but I really felt like a #, not a person there.
Sarah asks: Can anyone suggest a good orthopedist that I don't have to wait too long to get in to see? Thank you!
Melody S. replied:
Ryan Arnold with OrthoWest! He recently gave me a cortisone injection in my knee and I did not feel anything. i was able to get in within a few days. Very nice and skilled doc.
Trusted recommendations for a orthopedic/sports medicine specialist? Hip and lower back pain for months with no real relief from the chiro; thinking an MRI might be in...
Sara H. replied:
Dr Olari. I went to him for foot pain (I have screws in my feet) and he said my flat feet were an issue and gave me special inserts. Ironically that fixed lower back issues I had been having for months and hasn't been able to get addressed by drs except prescription pain meds. Lol might be another issue causing it that you don't even think of!!!
Anonymous asks: Recommendations for orthopedic surgeons and chiropractors in Omaha for infantile scoliosis?
Kendra C. replied:
I cannot recommend Dr. Esposito at Children's Hospital enough! He has performed several surgeries on both of our boys for several conditions. He is beyond excellent!

Dr. Brian Hasley, specializes in infantile scoliosis at Children's. Very professional and awesome bedside manner. Great sterile technique!

We also love Dr. Hasley

As far as chiropractors... I recommend all 3 doctors at Millard Wellness Center at 168 th & W Center Rd. They specialize in children with extremely difficult medical issues and are amazing!

Dr Esposito doesn't accept new patients, correct?
Margo M. replied:
I work in the OR at children's and both doctors are fantastic! I think Dr. Esposito is more into the OI kids.

Dr. Jenson, he is currently seeing my son, and has been great! He is at Childrens.
Can anyone recommend a great orthopedist in the Omaha area? One that knows a lot about knees and sports injuries.
Joy W. replied:
I would call Orthowest and see who has the earliest appointment. I saw M. Thompson, but it wasn't knee or sports related. If you have Brown as a recommended name, ask about him first.
Cherie C. replied:
My primary care doctor suggested Dr. Stephen Brown at Lakeside and as a matter of fact we were there this afternoon For Jacobs knee.
Mary G. replied:
I prefer the Nebraska sports medicine group at oakview. Steve Hagen is awesome and I also like Steve Goebel, he has done surgery on my knees.

Claire Lakatos Rathjen, is my PT. ( I love her) She has some great recommendations.
Claire R. replied:
That depends on how aggressive you want to be. The orthopedic surgeon route will likely start with XRays and something along the lines of a cortisone injection (a good ortho doc will not immediately jump to surgical options). If you wanted to try som ething less invasive, a PT consult with a Sports Certified Physical Therapist might be a good bet as well. Dr. Burt at Neb Ortho and Dr. Dietrich at UNMCP are great options that are hip-centered surgeons. Dr. Turman at GIKK is another fantastic option as well, as she specializes in sports and athletes (she was a college athlete herself at UNL), and does hip and knee. Orrrrrrrr...I would be MORE than happy to take a look at you and see if its something that you might even be able to treat on your own (I do free screens for athletes at my clinic on 144 th and Dodge) with some stretches and exercises. Feel free to contact/PM me if you would like - I would love to help you out if I can!
Can anyone in the Omaha area recommend an orthopedic surgeon? I think my knee is about to go.
Corinne E. replied:
Dr. Hagen at Nebraska Orthopedic Hospital ( they may have changed the name) right across from oak view is good. They take United and the MRI is right in house too. The Nurses are very nice! And the Rehab is there too! One stop shop!

I really like Thomas Atteberry, he did my hip ..but specializes in knees
