To all the raw feeders in the group. I'm not raw feeding yet but considering it. But not until I know exactly how to give my dogs a balanced diet and do it right. ...

Here is another very good resrouce: www.dogaware.com It's a lot to take in, but she is very good at explaining choices, moving slowly to raw or home cooked, which books are best, etc.
You can feed kibble and raw BUT, not at the same meal. Raw is digested faster than kibble so if you feed at the same meal you might cause tummy issues. When I started/continued my Leo pup on raw, I ground everything up. And I just made the change cold turkey. Lexi is correct. Never feed cooked bones. They will splinter and pierce the intestinal tract. Raw bones only. Raw Fed Leonbergers is another group here on Facebook that has many knowledgeable people if you would like to join. I don't think you need to have a Leo to join.

Loads of coops and places to buy - just gotta start talking to people. Some raw groups are less forgiving than others, some are much ruder than others, etc. So join a few and see what vibe you like. There are differnet ways to feed raw - some people will be nasty and refuse to deal with you unless you go cold turkey raw - others will be understanding about moving slowly from kibble to raw, etc. Some only do whole prey and look down upon others who don't - there is a huge rift over whether feeding veggies and fruits is ok, etc. etc. This is another raw feeding group, and I'm sure if you ask, they can direct you to smaller groups in your area that share info about suppliers and prices. (Buying at the grocery store can get really expensive if you have large dogs.) Good luck! You won't regret feeding raw, even if you only feed raw one meal and kibble another. IMO, *any* *real* food we feed our dogs is of benefit. https://www.facebook.com/groups/preymodeldiet/
