Very disappointed and rather shocked to hear Dr Hilary Jones on R2 today recommend people see a chiropractor/osteopath to have their necks cracked!

Not an entire book. Ullman's columns on the internet are full of studies. And which particular aspect of so-called modern medicine would you suggest I offer studies in? Big field, that. But here's one Ullman cites from a French doctor, or doesn't that count? http://www.springerlink.com/content/0557 v31188 m3766 x/fulltext.pdf It is a study of the dilutions required for homeopathic preparations and their effectiveness.

Laura, this is the chiropractic magic I refer to: " The message from the brain is slowed down and the life energy carried by the nerve is unable to reach the organs and tissues at 100% of its potential." http://gibsonschiropractic.com/what-is-chiropractic.html The amount of times they use the word science and yet fail to comprehend the meaning of the word 'energy' is scary. Remember, energy is not a 'thing,' it is a measurement of work potential, like metres is a measurement of distance. You can't manipulate a Meter or summon one at will.

Laura, the chances are you're wasting your money. http://edzardernst.com/2013/10/twenty-things-most-chiropractors-wont-tell-you/ and http://www.quackwatch.com/04ConsumerEducation/QA/osteo.html clearly the correct (not vile) pills are the ones you want and the best (not dangerous) surgery if required. Pitting woo medicine against the wrong science is not really a comparison worth making.

This pushes many of my buttons too, but unlike Jo I shan't remain measured. Dana Ullman is a fraud, a quack, a shyster, a magic water-peddling gobshite whose claims are as bogus as his medical qualifications, and the kind of morally-bankrupt purveyor of pseudo-scientific garbage that has no qualms about spreading disinformation that could get people killed if it sells another book. Citing such a repulsive toad to support the junk nonsense that is homeopathy instantly loses both the argument and any chance of my respect.
