http://washington.providence.org/find-a-provider/g/jane-geraci/ In 20 years living in Olympia she is the best physician I have ever seen. Take as much time as you need. Talks to you like you are a regular person. Has an excellent memory of things you have discussed in the past. Only recommends tests / meds you absolutely need. I can't say enough good things about her.
TipCleMurican replied:
I go to Olympic Physicians in Shelton. They seem fine. Dude did push the flu vaccine pretty hard but backed down when I asked him if I was really at risk from dying from the flu. I'd recommend checking your insurance company's website and going from there, though. Generally they have it set up so you can choose a distance range, gender, specialty, and so on and you can be sure they take your insurance before you try to make an appointment. Often the people answering the phones at these places just don't know for sure if they accept your insurance.

I've been seeing PA Jamie Nixon at Capital Family & Sports Medicine since they were South Sound Family & Sports Medicine. I don't know any of the other physicians there anymore, but she's always been really great. Really listens and has conversations like she's totally 100% present (I've had issues with other physicians being really aloof and only half-heartedly there). http://capitalphysicianservices.com/cfsm/providers/
skellso replied:
I recommend Dr. Robert Widrow at Olympia Internal Medicine. I moved to Oly from Seattle 4 years ago and was pleasantly surprised with my options! His office is laid back and I appreciate that he genuinely cares about my wellbeing. He has never pushed unnecessary tests/meds on me and asks for my input about options. FYI; I'm a 31 year old female.
Guenhwyvere replied:
I highly recommend Dr. Thomas Wu (the elder. His son is a doctor, too) at Capital Women's Health. He was once an OBGYN, but backed down from obstetrics while still performing general surgeries. He just did my mother's hysterectomy. EXTREMELY kind and funny old man from Singapore. He's been in women's health for over 30 years and is the jolliest, smartest doctor I've ever met. Since your roommate is a woman, she can see him as a primary care as well as seeing him for gynecology under Washington State law. He's in fairly high demand (it usually takes me more than a week to get an appointment if it's not a rush), but it's worth it. He's been taking care of the women in my family for decades and we all love him. He refuses to retire, despite being eligible, because he loves his job so much. 10/10, would recommend.

I can let you know in 2 weeks. I am trying to find a place myself and have my first appointment then.
januarypens replied:
Let me know what you find out! I'm new to town and looking for a GP, also.
GrooverMcTuber replied:
Providence and Group Health completely suck. They hire hacks that can't get hired into private practice. *Also, NEVER trust a doctor that refuses to give you a referral to a specialist.* If they do this, quit them immediately and seek another provider. There is another Medical park somewhat like Lilly Road on the Westside centered around Capitol Medical Center which is a private hospital and gets to be choosier which docs and staff they hire. A better quality of care and none of the traffic bullshit of Lilly Road.
Can anybody request a good primary care physician in Providence? One that doesn't have a 6 month wait period...
