Recommended home inspectors and home renovation companies? I’m looking to purchase a house and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations in terms of inspectors...

I've had four contractors work on my house (bought a fixer upper 4 years ago). The worst stole my key, called me to tell me my wife was a bitch, and left a bunch of garbage in my back yard. The best I've hired finished late with slightly below expectations work. I've already hired the "good" one twice, since I've seen how bad bad is. The "good" one was Total Construction. I suppose I'd recommend them. If anybody has a high quality, good value contractor I'm all ears but at this point I'm more than willing to settle for "not calling my wife a bitch."

If you think your buying agent has a conflict of interest, you have a bad realtor. Find one that is on your team, watching out for you. I used Chad Poppin from Home Guide Inspectors LLC. Jumped on a home on NYE and he was out there next-day doing the inspection. Very professional and thorough.

Reis at Inside out home inspections. They are very thorough. My wife worked for them so I got to see their reports. The owner also teaches classes for junior inspectors. I personally will use them if I move

We’ve used Darren Patt construction for two major projects so far. Loved him and his crew. Honestly had really great experiences with them both times and I have extremely high standards. Plus, they came in under their estimate both times on a time and materials contract (so they could have gotten more money out of us and didn’t).
