I swim about 3 times a week at Hallenbad Donaustadt or Hallenbad Großfeldsiedlung (both transdanubia). I dont really have too much issues there with overcrowding. Also at Großfeldsiedlung you can swim outside (if you dont mind the cold water) where almost never anyone swims at this time of the year.

Just head over to Donau Insel and swim in the river. Hardly anyone there on regular days and is nice to be out in nature.

I have been to Jörgerbad, Theresienbad (pool is 33 m though I think, better than the usual short pools) and Birgittenauerbad. I found that they all suck for swimming at public opening hours. I tried looking here http://www.schwimmbadcheck.at/schwimmbaeder/wien.html but it seems the only 50 m pools are outdoors. Best bet is to join some swimming clube if you hate the non swimmer crowded lanes... I did two courses for: http://www.owr.at/ to get some better swimming...

I would actually like some recommendations on that as well. I've been going to Jörgerbad because it's close to where I live, but unless you go there in the right timeframe it's waay overcrowded. Same for 90% of other public pools. I heard some pools in Transdanubia are good (21, 22) but I never got the chance to check it out. Maybe with the reopening of Stadthallenbad it will become better (but I doubt that's ever going to happen).

Yeah, the public pools tend to get quite crowded and I have yet to see one where you can swim a couple of laps in your own lane. In summer, I have found that the Kongressbad is less crowded than the nearby public pools, simply because it is larger. What I'd do is book a course at the USI in autumn: http://www.univie.ac.at/USI-Wien/index2.htm

I visited Theresienbad in 12. Bezirk, straight after work ~18.00 and it was really ok. Not too much ppl and special lane for swimmers. Maybe the weather did the trick - but i'll see
Hi guys! I am a student and broke by nature :) So could you recommend:
- An affordable gym with ( possibly) affordable fitness classes
- An affordable place (s) to buy...
