Just wondering if anyone has received any relief from their landlords for the rent of May or June due to the evacuation? Our property management has denied any relief....
Glenn R. replied:
Landlords Tenant Act states they Took in Money they must provide - They did not so May paid should be used for June . Call Them state Landlord Tenant complaint will be Filed . The Province Should have Frozen Rent in Area immediately . Same happened in Flood .

The Wood Buffalo Housing Corporation has waived all rental fees for May and June for all their tenants and it would be great if all the other landlords in Fort Mac would do the same, especially given the fact the properties were not habitable for the entire month of May and renters have had to incur so many additional expenses during the evacuation. The Province of Alberta has advised that a kind written request be made to your landlord first and if they fail to reduce or compensate rent for May and/or reduce or waive rent for June, then you can make application for Residential Tenancy Dispute Resolution at www.rtdrs.alberta.ca or call 780-427-4088. The cost is $75 but that cost may be waived for evacuees.

Note, we're in the Sherwood Park area. We don't have an extra home but we do have an acreage. If you can get your hands on a camper or RV, we have plenty of restful space for you. If that doesn't work for your family, no problem. Here's another link in the Sherwood Park area that might help you connect with what you are looking for: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1448437395396058/

guaranteeing rent in a renters market? Doesnt pass my smell test.... probably comes with a crap load of fine print or monthly management fees that are so high that they are not worth hiring.

Same here, looks like too good to be true.
amanda780 replied:
Not Victorian Property Management. They will take your money but not upkeep your property.
mooseman780 replied:
Just don't go with Davies. Had a piss poor experience as a tenant.
EdmRealtor replied:
Why not do it yourself? reality is if you can own and manage a home a second one is not that difficult.

Thanks!

Prince Property Management. Talk to Sandy, she's so awesome.
jarrod164 replied:
The way a company can "guarantee" rent even during vacancy is because they will actually be paying you. You are creating a lease agreement with them and it will say that they can sublease. This can benefit you with a very long term rental agreement (not 100% sure but don't see why they wouldn't lock it in for 5 years). However you may be providing a small discount for the peace of mind, which for a lot of people, that's all they care about. So you might have a house worth $2000 in rent per month, they will guarantee you $1500 a month, rent it out for $2000 and pocket the difference (hypothetical numbers of course).
