Shawnton, Florida can be awful overall but there are some wonderful providers who buck the trend peppered throughout the state. She's an hour and a half from you, but please track down my friend Jennie Joseph... http://www.facebook.com/pages/Commonsense-Childbirth-Inc-THE-BIRTH-PLACE/100517133926
Does anyone have a recommendation for a sleep study physician?

I have a great place. The rooms are like hotel rooms too. It's called Florida Apnea Diagnostics, 279-5012. They are in Wesley Chapel in offices behind Goodwill. Excellent!

I just did mine through Dr. Geck at the USF Sleep Center. Really like him. He called me twice today (missed him the first time) to tell me nothing crazy happened in the study. And to say he'd see me at my next appointment if I still wanted to keep it. So different from the "I'm not telling you anything unless you come in" crap so many dr.'s give you now.

Polly V. replied:
Not at all. Daniel had it done when he was about 7 or 8. Onelio prefers Tampa General as a rule. The protocol is the same. Daniel did very well. Neither of them actually saw a doctor. You see technicians. The doctor just reads the results and submits the report to the referring doctor.

I'm assuming you mean how do you find which doctors are covered and which aren't? I've been dealing with this a lot lately, and you should have a card with numbers to call and websites to look up the info. Plug in the info, such as what type of coverage you have, what type of doctor you want to see (I believe many insurances make you start with General Practice) and then...it gives you a list. Pick one and set up the appointment. Most important, if you feel like the doctor isn't taking you seriously or listening to you, don't be afraid to find another.
P.s I sincerely apologise if this at all comes across as patronizing, I am genuinely trying to help and don't know the exact type of info you need, so I went basic. Hope it helps!
