Sherry K. replied:
Physical Therapist, Joe Siracusano at the Nebraska Medical Center's Pain Center. He does craniosacral therapy and removed the fluid in my son's ears by the third visit. (He is amazing!)
Jennifer W. replied:
Chiropractic plus an herbalist like Mo Horner or Kate Bodmann. It's rarely just one magic bullet.
Kate B. replied:
Try chiropractic or acupuncture (Tcm Acupuncture Clinic or Thirteen Moons Acupuncture) or see an herbalist such as Four Winds Natural Healing Center. I am also an herbalist and near you. www.landofmilkandhoneyherbs.com

Crystal P. replied:
Antibiotics kill most the bacteria in the gut and can bring back old issues. We have treated my LO and myself for hives/ eczema by doing gut healing: probiotics, no sugar & grains, bone broths, fermented veggies, homeopathy, and BioRay kids: bioraykids.com
Crystal P. replied:
We have kicked our only ear infections with chiropractic and homeopathy: http://www.homeopathycenter.org/ear-infections

My daughter was a MSPI baby and had it for the first yr of her life. She also had 8 ear infections before we had tubes put in. Our ENT doctor was amazing Dr. Ann Edmonds. My daughter had hives like this constantly. I was told it's a way for infection to leave the body. But this could also be a reaction to antibiotics. I don't think personally it's a reaction to dairy more so medicine. Our great grandmother always told me to give a warm oatmeal bath. Or apply baking soda n water paste. It's scary but she will be ok and contact your Ped doctor right away.
Help an Our Kids reader, she asks "Can you recommend the best pediatricians and dentist in the Fairfax county area for a toddler (almost 3 year old)?"
Sandy R. replied:
We love Childrens Medical Associates CMA who have offices in Fairfax and Alexandria and Alexandria Children's dentist (Dr. Angela). Both Alexandra locations are right off of 395 at the Little River Turnpike exit
Margaret H. replied:
Capital Area Pediatrics is a great pediatric group - they have offices in Vienna, Herndon, Ashburn, Sterling and Falls Church. I used to work for them before changing fields and now take my son to the Herndon group.
Mara S. replied:
We also love CMA. We have also been really happy with Dr. Banaji - he's near the Mosaic District. Great dentist and the hygienists are terrific with little ones!
Linda M. replied:
Dentist- dr. Jack Weil in Vienna. I have seen him and his staff make very young children comfortable on their first visit. Doctor- virginia pediatric and adolescent center in Springfield and Fair Oaks (next to Inova Fair Oaks Hospital).
Sarah D. replied:
We chose to take our kids to our dentist, since most pediatric dentists in Virginia don't employ Registered Dental Hygienists, only Dental Assistants, to do the cleanings. You still pay the same, but for much less training/experience! Just something to be aware of.
Kathleen M. replied:
Pediatric Assoc. of Alexandria been taking my kid since birth. Happy with all the docs and PAs I've seen there. Busy practice though!
Julie A. replied:
Pediatric Dentist Jayne Delaney is beyond awesome - my young kids love going to the dentist!
Nova folks- any recommendation for a pediatrician in the Mclean/Fairfax/Vienna area? :) Apparently, I need to find one soon.
Tommy N. replied:
https://www.northernvirginiapediatrics.com/ - Apparently the best in NOVA. My friend is a doctor there.
Judy P. replied:
I recommend Advanced Pediatrics. Very close to Tysons. I used to go to Dr. Martin but we had to switch to NoVA Ped Assoc b/c of our insurance.
Judy P. replied:
NoVA pediatrics is where I go now. It's a HUGE practice with like over 10 doctors. It's so hard to get through the phone line or to the doctor bc it's so big. And most of the time I have to wait a long time at each appt. the doctors are good but not the practice. I miss Advanced Pediatrics.
Esther C. replied:
muchos gracias everyone! I'll check out Advanced Pediatrics first since it looks like Northern Virginia Pediatrics looks hard to get into.... and I'm all about not waiting too long to get an appointment. haha.

Mayo will take anybody (http://www.mayoclinic.org/ehlers-danlos-syndrome/appointments.html): "Mayo Clinic works with hundreds of insurance companies and is an in-network provider for millions of people. In most cases, Mayo Clinic doesn't require a physician referral. Some insurers require referrals, or may have additional requirements for certain medical care. All appointments are prioritized on the basis of medical need." If you don't have medical insurance in the US, the only options are paying the costs yourself, finding a private charity to help, or going onto disability SS (http://www.socialsecurity-disability.org/content/about-ssdi) or Supplemental Security Income (http://www.socialsecurity-disability.org/content/about-ssi) to get Medicare, and also possibly Medicaid (http://www.benefits.gov/benefits/benefit-details/1629).

None that I know of are near—try the Physicians DIrectory http://www.ednf.org/index.php?option=com_sobi2&sobi2Task=search&Itemid=99999999 Click on "Extended search options"—at the bottom, Select Category, choose Physicians Directory (only choice) from the menu; the choose "Physicians" from the menu that will appear right below; then choose Pediatrics from the next menu that appears. Maybe someone here can help. You might also look at Peter Row, Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, or CIncinnati Childrens' Hospital in Ohio, where Dr. Brad Tinkle practices. [M]
