Groomers for un-socialized dogs? Hi Indy friends. I’ve recently adopted two mutts (16lbs and 95lbs) who have not been very well socialized. They need to be groomed and...

Hi!
First off, good on you for adopting difficult dogs! I have an unsocialized nightmare too. It has taken a lot of time and patience but we have made it work.
Unfortunately I don't have any good suggestions for actual groomers for you because I do all my own grooming but you do have a few options!
PetValu has self service stations. Only do this if you know these dogs wont bite YOU! If you trust them and they feel comfortable around you then this is definitely an option.
If you are concerned that that will bite you and you are concerned about the safety of others (good for you!) then know that many vets will offer sedation grooming. A lot of people have strong feelings against this method but I find that those people have never actually owned a difficult dog. Don't let online horror stories scare you, trust your vet. Safety first.
If you have 65 bucks to drop I want to HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this online class. The Fenzi academy is incredible, I've taken many of their classes and I am never disappointed. I haven't taken this class but I have watched the webinar and I'm into, I'll be taking the actual class this time around. I would be happy to take it with you! Registration ends on June 15th and they dont offer this class again until December so make up your mind fast!

Consider muzzle training them. Hear me out. There is NOTHING traumatic or uncomfortable about a muzzle IF you condition them to love it. It is very easy. I'll link to a great website on the topic. Think about it like this. If they need a medical procedure and they're acting all nervous and dodgy the vet is going to stick a muzzle on them. Without you conditioning them to it it is going to be scary. If you condition them before hand it is going to be no big deal. Its good for them, its good for you, its good for anyone who has to handle them, its just good for everyone.

Finally, if you want to meet up in person and go over anything I would be more than happy to do that. Dogs are my passion, helping people live with their pets as they are is a good deed I'm always happy to do. Unsocialized pooches can be a real struggle to deal with and I would be thrilled to go over with it all with you.

I don’t have any specific recommendations of businesses, but maybe a mobile groomer would be able to help you.

Christy Davidson at New Castle Animal Hospital is who we've always used. She did KoKo now she does Max. Really like her, and for whatever reason Max likes her, and no, he doesn't like anyone but his mama! LOLOL

I really like the gal at New Castle Animal Hospital cutting Max's nails cause Silky's have veins that go all through their nails and she is knowledgeable on her breeds and knows where to cut, how far down etc. I'm sure any one of the suggested places would be awesome, but I would ask, when you call, Are you comfortable with Daschaunds.
Wanted to put a shot out to the best dog groomer Brenda Woods-Weiss for working our Fred into her already busy schedule he so in need of a shave and wash!!!!!
