:) Very different zones here! Crimum Lillies, pony tail palms, bromeliads - lots of tropical w/ architectural interest. Keep hard scapes simple with concrete shapes in geometric shapes. Lots to work with here - just completely different from what I grew up with in the Midwest!

Rain bird. https://www.fisoutdoor.com/ has good prices. Usually save alot compared to local irrigation supply companies, when you are buying in bulk that is.

I just completed a project similar to what you’re describing. Most of my parts were from Rain Bird and I didn’t have any issues with them. I would order in bulk from their website and be prepared to run up to your local big box store to get parts that you forgot or weren’t expecting to purchase. Good luck!

I like my RainMachine. It’s WiFi controlled but the “server” is local so that it works even if the internet is down.

Big box stores DO NOT carry commmical grade sprinkler parts. Go to a local distributor and seek help. In Nebraska they will also do a design for a small fee. Rain bird and Hunter are both great with Toro slightly less. You can find cheap parts online , but make sure they are commercial grade.

I agree with the Rachio controller suggestion. If you're also installing sprinklers, I just installed Hunter MP Rotators about a year ago and love them. I also have half of an acre in southern California. The combination of the two has noticably lowered my water usage & water bill. I have a mixture of Bermuda grass, trees (one fruit), and a garden area.

I own a landscaping business and I almost always use rainbird products! You can also upgrade the timer to be controlled through your phone and get weather updates. I would advise to not go through your local Home Depot or something like that and actually find a pluming store that supplies it. Only reason is they will give you much better advice on the setup, options and how everything works.

I’ve got a sprinkler company and we always get nervous when residents do their own systems. A tip that might help is to use one inch pipe for everything. If you have to use bigger pipe then do that, but don’t mess around with 3/4 inch and 1/2 inch pipe. It’s just not worth the time. Lots of stress will be lifted off your shoulders if you spend less time worrying about adapting down in pipe. Also, Rainbird will give you a quality product for cheaper than Hunter and for the love of humanity, don’t touch Orbit.
