  Most of the gas meters in town have been replaced. The NJ Natural Gas Co added a new valve on the resident's side of the meter. As a result of this, reconnecting the meter will not be as simple as putting to pieces back together. The gas lines going in to the home may need to be reconfigured to meet up with the new meter location. You will need to hire a licensed plumber or heating/cooling HVAC contractor to reconfigure, pressure test and reconnect your gas lines.
