at the risk of being overwhelmed with information, any tips/advice/details (where to stay, fly/drive, best way to get around, etc) you can give me about Boston would be much appreciated...

We have used bnbboston.com several times, but it's very late now to start looking. Don't be afraid to stay outside Boston or otherwise not right at the start/finish. We've had very good luck staying in Cambridge/Somerville and taking the T. The Silver Line bus from the airport (Logan) is easy with transfer anywhere else you want to go on the T system.
Anyone who has participated in Boston marathon before: Do you have recommendations for booking a hotel there for 2016? I know I should have booked last month but have no idea where to look and what some of the better options might be. Thanks in advance!

We generally book through bnbboston.com. In any case, don't be afraid to stay in Cambridge or Somerville. It's super easy to get around on the T.
