About us

In 2006, Tracey Nolan began her photography career as a writer, shooting jazz musicians on and off-stage to accompany her reviews and interviews in Coda Magazine. By 2008 she was nominated for Photographer of the Year at the National Jazz Awards. In 2009 she launched Tracey Nolan Studios where she focuses on both in-studio and natural light portraiture and journalistic style wedding photography.

Tracey’s Images have been featured in the Globe and Mail, National Post, Toronto Star, NOW Magazine, Brooklyn Rail, Downbeat and online for The Atlantic, The Washington Post, The Guardian and Jazz Times, among others. Her photographs from post-Katrina New Orleans have received exhibition at the Lens Factory and Art Yard Gallery in Toronto. A selection of her jazz photography is in the permanent collection at The Rex Hotel.

Tracey is a self-taught photographer who prizes spontaneity and instinct above all else. She counts Gordon Parks, Eve Arnold and filmmakers Frank Capra and Spike Lee among her influences. She lives in Toronto with her husband, musician Jim Clayton and their daughter Lenny, the most photographed kid in the GTA.
