  Doctor recommendations? Hey all, I'm looking for a good general practitioner for yearly physicals, checkups and any other things that may arise. It's been a while since I've needed to go to the doctor to anything, but I've been needing to do a physical for a while, and I'd like to find a good doctor that I can initiate a relationship with. I'd like to avoid any doctors with awful bedside manners, and also not go to one that is going to give me random samples for some illness I may have. These are two things I've come across in the past and I don't want that in a doctor. Thanks!

  Dr Rie at South Austin Medical Center is great. He's super easy to talk to, isn't a pharm pusher and it's usually pretty quick to schedule an appointment with him. His office is right behind central market south and has plenty of parking (which was a huge issue with my old doc). www.southaustinmed.com/

  Sorry to post this here 'cause it has nothing to do with name/gender marker change in Texas, but I think this group's membership is precisely the population that can best answer my question! The Downtown Doctor, Dr. Georgeana Freeman, used to oversee my HRT but I had to switch to my primary physician because Dr. Freeman is not in the Humana network and it was getting really expensive. So far, my physician has been OK but she's a general practitioner so I would like to find someone more specialized. Can anybody recommend anyone? Thanks!

  General Practitioner in Austin? Looking for a good Doctor I've been living in Austin for a couple of years but haven't really been able to find a doctor that I want to keep going to. It's been hard for me to find someone that seems to care about his/her patients and won't just throw prescription drugs at a problem automatically. Someone personable and not intimidating that I can keep going to for a while. This is starting to sound like a personal ad... Any insight?
