michaelyup replied:A spay doesn’t cost $650. When I lived in Galveston county, we had [Animal Alliance ](https://www.animalalliancetx.org/) for low cost spays and vaccines. I used [VCA clinics ](https://vcahospitals.com/) a chain vet clinic that is very reasonable priced for any other vet visits. They have locations all around Houston and transfer my pets’ records easily between locations. Edit: a spay for a cat at Animal Alliance was $25, but you shouldn’t have to spend more than about $100 at any vet. Sorry for the updates.

Mo S. asked:My nephew found this kitten in sept of last year at a gas station. He brought him to me almost dead. I looked for mom and other baboes for weeks and never found any more. I nursed him back to health and had many ups and downs waiting for someone to place him in rescue which never happened and eventually I decided to keep him. Well he is now having some major problems going on. We've done a CT scan and mri and it has been found he has spinal fracture as well as a spinal leak that drains into the mediasacrum. He's stable not declining but no one has ever seen his condition before. He's going back I'm for a CT amd mri in 5 weeks. Does anyone know of any good neuro surgeons in you're area I can contact. I'm at a cross roads with him and need more input for him. Im getting he needs surgery and then I'm also getting no don't do it. He's by far the most expensive kitty I've ever had and I just love him amd need to help him He's not life threatening as of yet and he's not in alot of pain so please do not recommend euthenization, if and when he's ready I will at that time.Carol C. replied:In Northern Virginia we used South Paws for my dogs back surgery (slipped disc) & my cat's cancer surgery. Becky S. replied:There is an oncologist at VCA SouthPaws Vet in Fairfax Va 703-752-9100. I went to the eye specialist with 2 different dogs and in the end it cost less than the local vet since they took care of the issues faster and had samples of Meds. I met a woman in the waiting room that had brought her lab there from Seattle WA. For cancer treatment so I am assuming they are really good. She was staying with friends here so he could complete his treatment with them
