We bought groceries around 10pm on Saturday night. On Monday I looked at the best before date on a package and saw that it was Sunday. The product was spoilt to the eye. We paid full price, it was not reduced. This morning the meat we purchased that same night is turning green, best before date hasn't been reached yet. I'm so frustrated! $15 of meat and bread in the garbage. I will take some of the blame on the meat, my mom always said to cook meat the day you buy it or freeze it - but I like to think best before dates are at least somewhat reliable. Anyway, moral of the story - check the dates of everything you buy. And... Do you have a good butcher to suggest? I think I'd like to try that route and see if we have better luck.
