  Best restaurants (particularly Mexican) East coaster who's heard about the legendary California Mexican food here. I'm going to be visiting San Jose and Palo Alto this week, want to know some options for really good Mexican food. What are your recommendations? Also open minded to any other particularly good places you'd recommend that would be hard to find back east. Looking for comfortable atmosphere, table service but no fine dining. Also, any good bars to get beer and where locals congregate and tend to be social/talkative? Thanks!

  Best table Mexican restaurants with table service would be Luna on the Alameda, Mezcal in Downtown's bar/club area (1 st/2 nd, San Fernando), and Olla Cocina at Downtown's San Pedro Square. Most authentic are going to be in the East Side, and up and down Monterey Road :)
