  Good morning. Hoping someone can help. We are at lock no 11 at Atherton, on the Coventry canal going up. We need a vet and an opticians preferably near the canal. We plan to do the locks first so time is not a problem.

  I am a VLK at Atherton, although not on duty today. Two possibilities for Vets:- Oakfield Veterinary in Margaret Road: 01827 714149 Riversmeet Veterinary in Long Street: 01827 720720 Two for Opticians:- Whitehouse Opticians in Long Street: 01827 713395 Maginnis Opticians in Long Street: 01827 716633 Riversmeet Vet and Whitehouse Opticians are the nearest to the cut. Suggest mooring on the VMs in the long pound between Locks 6 & 5 just before the A5 bridge. You can then walk up into the end of Long Street. The vets' practice is in the old Railway Station building, and the opticians just a little further up the street. Hope this helps.
