Our staff has over 100 years of combined experience in the outdoors. We all hunt and fish.
Established in 1959
Al & Bob's Sports is the ultimate solution for archery, hunting, and fishing needs. We provide top-of-the-line equipment for all of these outdoor recreational sports. When clients need to brush up on their skills, our staff's combined years of experience will elevate the capabilities of all outdoor recreational enthusiasts.
Our wide selection of crossbows includes top-of-the-line brands like Excalibur, Ten Point, Wicked Ridge, and more. Our staff is made up of avid hunters who are familiar with the bow, and we know how to help archers find the right equipment because we use it ourselves! After making your selection, brace the bowstring on our 12-lane indoor archery range. In the winter, we offer a 10-week league for archers who want to maintain top form via friendly competition.
Our gun selection includes rifles, shotguns, and pistols, and our brands range from Beretta to Winchester. We also offer accessories like cases, holsters, magazines, choke tubes, and more. We know how important finding the right gun is, so we make sure that any hunter can find the right one here. We have big buck photo contests throughout the year, and photos can be sent to WBBL.com.
We offer premium fishing gear and accessories, including Yamamoto Custom Baits, Strike King Lures, Bill Lewis Lures, Shimano Rods and Reels, and Rapala. In addition to these premium fishing brands, we perform auger blade sharpening. If something seems off with a client's gear, we can repair it. Functioning fishing gear is the key to reeling in that big catch as well as relaxing on the water, and we make sure our clients can do both.
Al & Bob’s Sports was founded in 1959 by two avid hunters and fishermen named Al Zyl and Bob Smythe. Since then we have provided the best fishing and hunting equipment available to outdoors enthusiasts in Grand Rapids and the rest of West Michigan.
In 1996 our current owner, Tom... show more Cook purchased the business. Tom and our manager Merle have decades of experience in hunting, fishing, and archery. We offer customers bow and gun maintenance services as well as repair and maintenance work.
We have a 12-lane indoor archery range with targets set 20 yards from each stall. Al & Bob’s holds 10-week, $50 winter leagues for archers who want to keep their skills honed while enjoying some friendly competition. The lanes are also available for customers who want to test the accuracy of recently purchased or newly sighted bows.
Instructor John Speck teaches new and renewal CCW classes to people who are applying for concealed carry permits. The shooting portion of the test is done at a local shooting range. Call or stop by to register for a class.
We hold a big buck photo contest in the fall which runs from October 1 through November 30. During that time we ask customers to send pictures of themselves with their bucks to WBBL.com.
