  Never to late to feed the birds. I feed mine all year. You get more migrating birds now but the natives are always around. Wild Birds Unlimited has awesome feeders and great advice. I have several platform type feeders. I have lots of doves and plenty of grackles right now. I also have a family of cardinals and bluejays. I also enjoy feeding the squirrels though not everyone likes squirrels. Last summer I had a little female basically live on my patio waiting for whole peanuts. If I had to be honest..if I fed them like they would like to be fed...they would eat me out of house and home..LOL The whole point is to have fun and enjoy what nature has to offer.

  Patty go to the Wild Birds Unlimited website and look around...If you can make it into the store even better. There are pole systems for mounting the feeders. You can also use a shepherds hook like the ones for hanging flower pots. My husband even spreads the seed out in our driveway and a FLOCK shows up to feed.

  Judith: Welcome to Denver! I apologize for the delay in getting you an answer. I was hoping some of our other birding experts on FB would chime in. Anyway, one of your best bets is to visit either Front Range Birding Company (http://www.frontrangebirding.com/) or Wild Birds Unlimited (http://www.wbu.com/). They would have recommendations on what type of bird house would be best. It also depends on what your yard looks like, what plants are in your yard, and what type of habitat surrounds your yard (open space, other homes, etc). I hope that helps!
