Dr. Susan Ferraro:

I always wanted... show more
to be a veterinarian. When I was a little girl Dad took me to his animal hospital and put me to work! Early on that meant cleaning cages and mopping floors! As time went on I learned the reception and assistant positions. Finally in 1985 I realized my dream when I received acceptance into veterinary college. I spent 3 years attending the Ross University College of Veterinary Medicine. In 1988 I was awarded a degree in veterinary medicine. After sitting for the various boards and tests I came to work for Dad at the Lincoln Park Dog & Cat Clinic. In 2000, I assumed ownership of the clinic.
I believe in preventative veterinary medicine. My wish is to extend the lives of my patients while maximizing their quality of life. This can only happen when Pet Owner and Veterinarian come to gether as a team. The supporting roles are played by the staff at our clinic, groomers, trainers and medical specialists. We must work together for our 4-legged companions. My goal is to provide state of the art medicine with a heart. The focus is to oversee and coordinate advanced care while providing general medicine and surgery on site.
I have a passion for organized veterinary medicine. I support membership in the Chicago VMA, Illinois VMA, American VMA and the American Animal Hospital Association. I sat on the Board of Directors for the CVMA and the ISVMA and also sat on the Human Animal Bond Committee of the AVMA. I also was a member of the City of Chicago Animal Care and Control Commission. I seek to honor the profession I love by giving back through volunteer work within these organizations. It is a privilege to be a member of such a venerable profession.
In my spare time I like to take Pilates classes, see movies on the big screen and partake of fine dining.. I share my home with my lab Max and my office with Sam the Umbrella Cockatoo and Wrigley our giant black kitty. If there were more days in a year I'd travel to far and exotic places.
