We're looking for recommendations for a good agent and also a good mortgage broker to get us a good rate. We've decided to buy so don't bother commenting on how we shouldn't. Also, we've decided to use an agent to help us buy so don't bother trying to convince us out of that. I'd be nice to have an agent who doesn't force us to sign a contract to commit to them - as a first time home buyer this sounds incredibly limiting, but if the industry operates that way then I guess we have no choice.   I've had nothing but horrible experiences with realtors (I've dealt with 3 so far in my short time in Ottawa), so I can't recommend anyone for that, but the mortgage broker I used was Debbie Belair (www.debbiebelair.com) and she was great.
