Dr. Kechan Chang has been a friend and supporter of the California Turtle and Tortoise Club (CTTC) for many years. I first met Dr. Chang at one of Walter Allen's Open Houses. Dr. Chang was at each one of these open houses to answer any question someone had about their turtle and/or tortoises. Dr. Chang faithfully attended many of the annual turtle and tortoise shows sponsored by the Long Beach chapter of the CTTC. His display of x-rays educated many of us on turtle and tortoise diseases and also how to try to attempt to avoid those problems.
Dr. Chang has been the "official" vet for the Long Beach Chapter since its inception in 1994. In that function he has provided medical care for many of the animals turned in for adoption. Many of our members that live in the Long Beach area and in Orange County depend on Dr. Chang for the well-being of their chelonians and other animal friends. On a personal note, Dr. Chang has been the vet I chose to care for my torto ises and has pulled many of them through life-threatening medical problems, including egg-binding, lung infections, worming and surgical procedures. On one occasion Dr. Chang used ultra-sound to break up a stone that was bloc! king the cloaca of a young Egyptian tortoises, a procedure that took well... show more over an hour!
