About us
Jim McCauley is not only a licensed Real Estate Broker in the state of Texas; he is also a registered homebuilder with the Texas Residential Construction Commission and a licensed homebuilder in the state of Tennessee . He also is a Pre-Foreclosure Specialist and has a passion to help people facing financial difficulties. Jim and his wife, Kate, have been married for 27 years, and they have two adult children (24 & 26) and one younger child (10). Although born in Atlanta, Georgia, Jim grew up in Richardson, Texas and spent his high school summers working and building cabins at the A-Bar-A Ranch, a 130,000-acre dude ranch in Encampment, Wyoming. After graduating from high school, he attended the University of Wyoming for two years, and then returned to Texas to finish his college career at Texas State University in San Marcos. He graduated from TSU and received his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Business Management.
After graduation, Jim returned to the Dallas area, got his Texas Real Estate License and worked as Production Supervisor for Ryland Homes. After winning two (2) Southwest Area Supervisor Awards, Ryland transferred Jim to Austin, Texas for a year in order to start a new division and was groomed for a production management position.
From there, Jim moved to Memphis, Tennessee for 20 years where he became an accomplished Award-Winning Builder and took two homebuilding companies to the #10 and #14 top rankings in the Memphis/Shelby County areas. He built on average 30-40 homes a year, and in 1999, he won 8 out of 10 awards at the Vesta Home Show (average 30,000 plus attendance), held annually in the Memphis area.
For the past 25 years, Jim has gained extensive experience in all facets of the real estate industry, and he looks forward to working hard for his clients and considers it a privilege to be a part of Small World Realty.
