  I'm a local home baker (from an Italian family) and make something similar. My version makes 6 smaller braided rounds with eggs in the center and can be glazed. The attached is a recent one I made with an all-butter crust and a honey balsamic mixed berry filling - everything is from scratch and using local/organic ingredients as much as possible.
