  I was wondering if anyone on here who has been through the ordeal of a loved one needing care ...my dilemma is my wife is in nursing home. she has Medicaid ,and I would like to get her home care instead ,like 8 hours a day ,as opposed to 24 nursing home care, would Medicaid cover that ,I would think 8 hrs 5 days a week would be cheaper than permanent care. she can't be left alone and I have to work . but when not working I have handle on her care...looking for someone who actually knows from experience .I sure would like to get her out of that place and at home .I believe it would help her at this point .but she needs someone there when i'm not..i am barely making it and can't afford home care on my own . no one seems to know if it is possible to get it covered and I have no clue about that stuff..

  Please call the area agency on Aging 1 B 800-852-7795. It is a nonprofit. The MI Choice program and the nursing facility transition program are two Medicaid programs that might be able to help. There might be a wait to talk to someone when you call, but they can help you figure out your options and if your wife might qualify. www.aàa1 b.com.

  Need advice..... Friends mother needs to be put in assistant living ASAP. The only place she can afford is out in Southfield. Does anyone have any leads of another location around 1500 a month? There has to be some sort of government housing or assistance she can get into. Eventually she will apply for Medicare but that's a long processes and needs a place within the next week or so.   800-852-7795 that is Area agency on aging hotline number to help you out they will even help you file for medcaid and help you find a place! Good luck! I am nurse aide so if you need any help i may be able to!
