About us
I’m Heidi, a Nova Scotian who loves travelling, time spent by the ocean and being creative! My business, Apricity Designs, combines these parts of my life – I create shadowbox art, using seaglass and other beachy finds, as well as polymer clay.
I’ve been creating with polymer clay since I was a child (I still remember the very first kit my mum bought me to keep me occupied on a long flight) and have been an avid seaglass collector for almost as long. I’ve had the chance to seaglass hunt in some amazing places, like Bermuda, the Channel Islands, and my favourite place of all, Seaham Beach in the U.K.
My seaglass art business received its start in a very accidental way. When my husband’s cousin was planning her wedding, she asked me if I might be able to make some pictures as gifts for her bridesmaids. I used some glass from my own personal stash, as well as some pieces from the bride’s mom, and had a wonderful time creating the pictures. I posted a photo of the finished pictures on social media, and then other people started asking if they could buy them too!
I now source my glass from various places around the world, although I also collect it myself as often as I can.
I'm currently living away from the ocean, in Arlington, VA, but can ship orders worldwide. I also send packages home from time to time, so local pickup in Bedford (from my lovely parents' house) may be an option if you're not in a hurry!
An online shop is in the works, but in the meantime, if you see something you like please let me know! If that particular piece is no longer available, I can likely create something similar for you. Custom orders are also welcome!
