About us

HEAD OF LIGHT ENTERTAINMENT are an unusual, hard to pigeon-hole, four piece alternative pop band from Teesside. Often labelled “quirky” or “off-beat”, the band’s sound could be more accurately described as a modern, scratchier, take on 1970’s art rock. Their chief touchstone is Sparks, and there are elements of the Mael brothers in both their musical output and live performance. Originally just a one man outfit consisting of ex-RCA Records recording artist Carl Green, the quartet version of HOLE have been together for five years, and is considered the definitive line-up: Carl (vocals, guitar), Simone Silivistris (vocals, keyboards), John Taylor (bass) and Graeme Boynton (drums and percussion). Their first two albums- “I Am Liberated” (2009) and “The English Don’t Care” (2012)- laid the dreamy foundations for their most recent and strongest release “Drool”, which came out May 2017. Music from all three albums has attracted regular radio play from band champions like Bob Fischer at BBC Tees and Tom Robinson at BBC6 Music, and garnered various enthusiastic blog and press reviews. The band are a fascinating live act, blending bravado with gaucheness to memorable effect, and spawning a devoted set of ultra loyal, cross-generational fans. Regulars on both the North East and London gig circuits, HOLE have played some of the UK’s most iconic small venues, including The Dublin Castle and Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen (London), Eagle Inn (Manchester), Fibbers (York), 02 Academy, The Cluny and Think Tank (Newcastle), and Georgian Theatre (Stockton). Festival credits include Willow Man, Twisterella, Richmond Live and NARC Fest.
