Where are you from and how did you get into this business?
I am from Hood River, Oregon. I started in the computer / networking industry as an early employee of NOVELL, Inc. back in the 80's! After I left NOVELL, Inc. I got into private IT Consulting and have spent the last 27 years doing so.
Describe a typical work day for you?
There is no typical work day, each day seems to be a bit different and unique as the IT business is much like running a medical practice. Sometimes it's quiet and other times all heck breaks loose!
From where do you draw your enthusiasm and inspiration for the job?
Owning your own business is both gratifying and rewarding in and of itself! The ability to ultimately control the quality of your work product and see the results first hand is always motivating. The variety of people, projects and technology one gets to work on in this kind of business is fascinating and at times challenging.
How can a customer ensure that they receive the best possible service from you?
I find a "friendly" exchange of communications, where the client informs me of their needs, expectations and what they're hoping to achieve goes a long way in what I give them back. I have always felt that my customers pay me to meet or exceed what I have agreed to do for them and I make every effort to accomplish this!
What has been your most memorable experience on the job?
I have many many memorable experiences, after 27 years there isn't just one that stands out any longer. However, it's always gratifying for me personally to meet my customers expectations in such a way they will continue do business with me time and time again! There is no business like "repeat business!", it's the best complement you can get in business.
