  Those species are vastly different, and it sounds a bit like you might benefit from some hands-on learning experience. I recommend a visit to non-profit organization Free Flight in Del Mar - www.freeflightbirds.org. You can get to know the characteristics of dozens of different species of parrots and perhaps find yourself open to adopting one of the COUNTLESS parrots in Southern California already in need of a loving home. 30-80+ year lifespans are no joke; neither is living with a companion animal who requires the same amount of enrichment and care as a toddler for that ENTIRE lifetime.

  Okay, friends! Ideas? Jason and I are planning to go to San Diego in September for Kenny Cavnar and Deaven Coggins wedding. We had figured we'd just make it into a vacation since we will already there. I'm looking for recommendations of hotels/resorts/restaurants and so forth for this trip. We don't mind driving a little but it looks like most of our vacation will be situated around the beach.
