We plan to use available land in a North Charleston food desert to sell groceries, grow organic retail and U-pick produce, host farm tours, raise worms and fish, harvest honey and mushrooms and produce healthy soil and healthy food in a manner that creates community and job opportunities to get capital flowing again within the Charleston Heights community.
Fresh Future Farm is a 501c3 non-profit with the goal of establishing an urban farm training center that educates South Carolina's working poor, new farmers and disadvantaged family farmers about profitable agricultural techniques that reclaim underused resources and economic opportunities. Fresh Future Foundation will leverage strategic partnerships and social media to promote initiatives that 1) support the development of a North Charleston food hub, 2) offer tax credits for the agricultural use of inner city lots, and 3) create more funding opportunities for start-up urban farms in our state. Growing Power Inc. with headquarters in Milwaukee and Madison, Wisconsin and Chicago, Illinois is Fresh Future Farm's fiscal sponsor.
