  If you're sure you know your size I've ordered several pairs of aris allens over the years from dancestore.com. I wouldn't say the quality was brilliant but that's only in comparison to much more expensive shoes so don't let that put you off, there's also a good range of styles, not all what you might call traditional. There are other smaller shoe manufacturers around the world making great shoes but the cost goes up a lot. If you want to sole your own shoes don't waste your money on stick on soles, find an off cut of chrome tanned split leather, you'll probably get enough for many pairs of shoes! Cut it tight to the sole of your shoe, leave no overhang and stick on with shoe goo.

  I've been wearing Aris Allen swing dance shoes for the last 4 years or so and they've worked great for contra. Most have a suede sole on them in a bunch of different styles (flats, sneakers, and heels). You can check them out at dancestore.com

  As far as dance shoes go, I prefer Bleyers. They are supremely light and are great dance shoes. Bleyers are expensive but well worth it if you want to really dance a lot. I will caution that I am a slave to the black and white regime and I always look for them when I am looking for a partner, because I know they like to dance. Dancestore.com has bleyers as well as outfits and other dance related items. Just don't go to the pinup wear. *chuckles
