About us
Toledo, Ohio native Chad Scouten created Thinking Cap 419 to celebrate Toledo’s hardscrabble past and undeniable spirit. Chad, a musician and graphic artist, offers vintage inspired designs for men and women as well as hoodies, stickers and posters.
Chad, who was raised in Toledo and was once a part of its thriving local music scene as a founding member of the local band Transcend, spent several years in Moab, Utah, before deciding to return to his roots. Much like Toledo itself, Chad is a survivor, and his designs are an ode to the city’s ability to reinvent itself over and over again.
When Chad looks at Toledo, he sees a rich history and a burgeoning arts and music scene. His designs allow people to celebrate their pride for the 419 by wearing a piece of Toledo made by a local artist.
